My customer had an old wooden musical jewelry box from when she was a young girl. She desired to pass the heirloom to her new granddaughter and commissioned me to restore it with new designs.
Since the box had a Christmas musical theme, I decided to go with a primary color of Red accented with various colors such as whites, pinks, greens, and purples. I also chose to illustrate a theme of childhood African American Ballerinas.
Initially, this wooden box was very plain, aged, and worn. Upon finishing this project, I was happy that my customer was pleased and at first views referred to the finished product as 'lovely'.
Below are photos of the restoration. From left to right reflects the box front, the box top, right side of box, left side of box, and box rear.
